Who we are

Sapiens (sapienshealth.app and the Sapiens apps) is run by Franco Nicolas Mendez, who is responsible for the personal data described here.

You can read the research library, topics and papers without an account. This policy explains what changes when you sign in, buy premium or use the research assistant.

What we collect

Account: when you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your name and email address (Apple may give us a private relay address instead) and an identifier for your account. We use them to keep you signed in and to show your name next to what you post.

Community: ratings, comments, flags, reports and blocks you add to papers are stored with your account. Comments and your display name are visible to other people.

Purchases: web payments are handled by Commet, which acts as merchant of record. We send Commet your name and email to create your billing account. Commet collects your payment details; we never see your card. We store only whether premium is active, the plan and its billing interval. In-app purchases on iOS and Android are handled by Apple and Google under their own terms.

Research assistant: questions you ask, with the last few messages of the conversation, are sent to our server and to OpenAI to write an answer from the papers in the library. We do not store these questions, and we ask OpenAI not to keep them.

On your device: saved items and recently viewed topics are kept on your device only.

Technical data: our servers keep short-lived logs (such as IP address and request time) to run the service and protect it from abuse.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data, show ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers. We do not use your data to train AI models.

Who processes data for us

Hetzner (servers in Germany) hosts our database and website. Apple and Google provide sign-in. Commet processes web payments. OpenAI generates research assistant answers. Each receives only what it needs for that task.

How long we keep it

Account and community data stay until you delete your account. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Server logs are deleted within 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything linked to it by writing to francomendezok@gmail.com. Depending on where you live you may also object to or restrict processing and complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Sapiens is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date below, and tell signed-in members about significant changes.
